Independent Film and Television Alliance

The Independent Film and Television Alliance, also known as IFTA, is the global trade association and advocacy group for the independent motion picture and television industry. IFTA’s stated mission is to provide the independent film and television industry with high-quality market-oriented services and worldwide representation of industry interests.

IFTA is a non-profit organization that represents more than 135 Members from over 23 countries consisting of independent production and distribution companies, sales agents, television companies, studio-affiliated companies and institutions engaged in film finance.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, IFTA assists its Members’ ability to finance, produce, market and distribute independent films and television programs.

For more than 30 years, IFTA Members have produced, distributed and financed 21 movies that have won Academy Awards for Best Picture. Those films have included in recent years, The Artist (Wild Bunch & The Weinstein Co.), The King’s Speech (The Weinstein Co.), The Hurt Locker (Voltage Picture & Summitt Ent.) and Slumdog Millionaire (Pathé).

Each year IFTA sponsors the American Film Market, a marketplace and trade show for the film industry, where movies are financed, sold, pre-sold, screened and discussed. The event also hosts a number of panel discussions centering on film industry-related topics.
