Hawaii International Film Festival 2009

Established in 1981, the Hawaii International Film Festival is dedicated to advancing understanding and cultural exchange among the peoples of Asia, the Pacific and North America through the global medium of film.

Recognized as the US festival of record for films from the Pacific Rim, HIFF has also always championed debut work from emerging filmmakers from around the Pacific Rim. Landmark films like ONCE WERE WARRIORS; CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON; A BITTERSWEET LIFE; THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE WEIRD; TAKEOUT, and BETTER LUCK TOMORROW – among many other notable films – had their start at HIFF.
