USA Film Festival Announces New Dates

Festival Will Host preview of NorthPark Center’s New AMC Theatres

The USA Film Festival announced new dates for the 36th Annual event of April 28-May 4, 2006, to be held in Dallas. The move enables the Festival to host the grand opening preview of the new, state-of-the-art AMC NorthPark 15 theatre located in NorthPark Center; inaugurate the NorthPark Center retail/restaurant expansion; and unveil CenterPark, the one-and-a-half-acre landscaped garden area adjacent to the new theater.

The seven-day festival will feature the best new independent short and feature films from around the world, along with special tributes; the Academy-qualified National Short Film & Video Competition featuring cash awards in multiple categories; and discussions with dozens of celebrities and filmmaker guests. The seven-day festival will be preceded by a Grand Opening Reception on Thursday, April 27, to kick-off the 36th Annual USA Film Festival and celebrate the new NorthPark Center expansion.

“We are so pleased to announce that the beautiful new AMC NorthPark 15 will host this year’s festival,” said Ann Alexander, Managing Director of the USA Film Festival. “AMC’s new cutting edge auditoriums should impress Dallas residents who have missed having theatres at NorthPark Center, and the new CenterPark garden will offer a wonderful setting in which to host receptions honoring celebrity and filmmaker guests with our local film-lovers.”

The NorthPark Center expansion will feature more than 90 new retail stores and restaurants including Aeropostale, Delia’s, Metro Park, babystyle, Kona Grill and Luna de Noche. Festival-goers will be among the very first to use the new North Entrance to the Center and will proceed via escalator to the box office at AMC NorthPark 15.

All programs during the seven-day USA Film Festival event will take place at the AMC NorthPark 15. The new facility will feature 15 auditoriums with seating for almost 3,500 guests. With wide corridors, oversized lobbies and upscale touches like a makeup counter with leather seating in the ladies’ room, AMC NorthPark 15 will be the premier out of-home entertainment facility in Dallas. The full Festival program and guest schedule will be announced in early April.

“We are very pleased to welcome the USA Film Festival to NorthPark Center,” said Christine Szalay, Director of Marketing at NorthPark Center. “We think that festival patrons will be excited by the opportunity to be the first to see the new AMC NorthPark 15 and will be so impressed by the theatre’s sense of approachable elegance. And, of course, with the new expansion, there are even more pre- and post-film screening and dining opportunities available for local audiences and visitors.”
