Gaming community network GGL Global Gaming today announced a video game tournament in conjunction with Quentin Tarantino’s newest film, Inglourious Basterds. Dubbed the Are You a Basterd? Call of Duty: World at War Tournament, the competition gives fans the chance to battle it out for new Dell Mini 12 Netbooks, movie posters signed by the cast, including Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger and Eli Roth, as well as tokens to DLC 3 Map Pack, the newest fighting realm for Call of Duty: World at War. The tournament is co-sponsored by The Weinstein Company and the game Wolfenstein, which was created by id Software.
GGL.com, the online gaming network which provides millions of gaming fans with a unique social/interactive platform where they can connect, compete and manage their gaming lives across hundreds of game titles on all game platforms, will be host to competition for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles.
The team tournament will allow competitors to battle each other in the Activision Publishing, Inc. produced exclusive first person shooter, Call of Duty: World at War. “Basterd” participants will face the most harrowing and climatic European and Pacific battles in which an enemy, who knows no surrender and no retreat, will fight to the last breath, unleashing an arsenal of lethal tactics. Registration for the practice ladder is now open, and competitors will move into the tournament ladders on July 29th to compete for positions in the bracket, which will run from August 26th to September 13th. The top teams from each ladder in the competition will advance to a single-elimination bracket to determine the ultimate champions.
There will be eight Dell Mini Laptops awarded to the winning teams in each of the Xbox 360 and PS3 competitions, with the eight second place finishers receiving an official movie poster signed by the cast of the upcoming action thriller. In addition, the members of the top 25 teams from each competition will receive a free token to download Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 3. Players can also win prizes without winning matches – any player whose team plays at least 10 matches will be entered into a raffle to win one of 50 pairs of movie tickets.
To join the open ladder, participants can log on to http://inglouriousbasterds.ggl.com, and complete the online registration form. Once registered, players will be asked to link their accounts to the Call Of Duty: World at War website as part of GGL’s unique tournament platform, designed to help gamers easily interact with others and organize their entire gaming lives across all consoles and game titles.
