Sundance Cinemas – Madison

Sundance Cinemas in Madison, Wisconsin is owned and operated by Robert Redford’s Sundance Group. Also called Sundance 608, this theater is the first of the Sundance Cinemas in the United States, according to Wikipedia.

Sundance 608 held its grand opening on May 11, 2007 and is located in the Hilldale Shopping Center, where it replaced the Hilldale Theater.

The “608” references the telephone area code for the region. According to news reports and interviews, Madison, Wisconsin was selected as the first location for Sundance Cinemas because there is a high level of interest in independent film in the area.
