The H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival showcases 3 days of Lovecraftian-related film screenings and activities. The event – which happens twice per year in Providence, Rhode Island and Portland, Oregon – showcases author readings, panels and vendors. For more 20 years, the H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival has been the vanguard of weird independent cinema. The 2016 edition marks the first standalone H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Providence.
The H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival screens works adapted from – or that been inspired by – the works of the father of Cosmic Horror, H. P. Loveccraft. The festival was founded by Andrew Migliore in Portland, Oregon, where it has run continuously, but it has spawned several offspring in various cities over the years, primarily in San Pedro, California, along with satellite events in numerous locations, including Seattle and Austin.
The festival has also included special screenings as part of the biennial NecronomiCon in Providence.
The H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival promotes the works of H.P. Lovecraft, literary horror, and weird tales through the cinematic adaptations by professional and amateur filmmakers.
