Vampire Cowboys to premiere scene from Soul Samurai at New York Comic-Con

Vampire Cowboys is an award-winning theater company that creates and produces work steeped in stage combat, dark comedy and a comic book style. The company’s next creation is titled Soul Samurai, and will be performed in New York City from February 14 – March 15, 2009, but if you’re attending New York Comic-Con, you can take in a scene for free. The program will begin at 1:15PM on Saturday, February 7, 2009, on the Variant Stage at New York Comic-Con.

Soul Samurai is the story of Dewdrop, a young teenage samurai and her fight through the mean streets of post-apocalyptic Brooklyn. After avenging her lover’s murder in the heart of Coney Island, Dewdrop must make it back home to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, before the shoguns of Kings County find her. In a play that mixes hip-hop culture, blaxploitation and martial arts, Soul Samurai takes it back to old school with a seventies-inspired samurai story.

Cast: Sheldon Best, Jon Hoche, Maureen Sebastian, Bonnie Sherman, Paco Tolson
Playwright/Fight Director: Qui Nguyen
