1970 – The North Tower of the World Trade Center in Manhattan, New York, New York is topped out at 1,368 feet, making it the tallest building in the world.
1966 – Britain’s rock TV show Ready Steady Go, airs its last episode, called “Ready Steady Goes.” It was the 17th episode of the 4th season and featured Lulu, The Yardbirds, Donovan, The Who, Mick Jagger, Cat Stevens, Alan Price and Paul Jones.
1961 – KICU TV channel 43 in Visalia-Fresno, CA starts broadcasting.
1947 – The transistor is first demonstrated at Bell Laboratories.
1938 – Margaret Hamilton’s costume catches fire during the filming of screen classic the Wizard of Oz.
1930 – Bette Davis arrives in Hollywood under contract to Universal Studios.
