1972 – Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt begin the third and final extra-vehicular activity (EVA) or “Moonwalk” of Apollo 17. As of 2016, they are the last humans to set foot on the Moon.
1950 – James Dean begins his career with an appearance in a Pepsi commercial.
1953 – KOAM TV channel 7 in Pittsburg-Joplin, Kansas (CBS) begins broadcasting.
