Famous Monsters Convention

Famous Monsters Convention was a horror convention that was first presented in New York City in 1974. The event was produced by Famous Monsters of Filmland, an iconic classic monsters magazine that ceased publication in 1983, but was revived by Philip Kim, an entrepreneur and a private equity investor, in late 2007. Kim purchased the rights to the logo and title, entering into an agreement with Ackerman to use his trademarks to retain the magazine’s original look and feel.

The first edition took place in November, with featured guests including James Warren, Forrest J Ackerman (original publisher of Famous Monsters of Filmland), Peter Cushing, Verne Langdon, Ingrid Pitt and Barbara Leigh.

The second edition took place November 7 – 9, 1975 at the Commodore Hotel in New York City. Guests again included James Warren, Forrest J Ackerman, Peter Cushing, Verne Langdon, Ingrid Pitt and Barbara Leigh.
