The Texas Chainsaw Massacre producer Mike Fleiss is partnering with helmer Eli Roth (director of Cabin Fever) on the horror pic Hostel at Screen Gems. Jay Hernandez (Friday Night Lights and Carlito’s Way: The Beginning) is in final talks to star in the film. Shooting starts this month.

Hostel’s plot is being kept under tight wraps, but Hernandez will star as a traveler abroad. According to Bloody Disgusting, the plot revolves around a group of hikers that get picked off.

The idea for the project was conceived by Fleiss and his Next Entertainment partner Chris Briggs, who brought the concept to Roth. They further developed it together.

Fleiss, Briggs and Roth will produce the film; Boaz Yakin and Scott Spiegel, Roth’s partners at his Raw Nerve production shingle, exec produce. Fleiss is also producing The Poseidon Adventure for director Wolfgang Petersen at Warner Brothers and is at work on a prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre at New Line Cinema.
