The artist Michael Fishel was born in 1950, and from a very early
age he had a keen interest in drawing and painting and was fascinated
with the illustrations of the great fantasy art masters of old. In 1971
he attended the John Herron Institute of art in Indiana and shortly
after his graduation he set out upon a course to bring his personal
and unique fantasy visionary art to the canvas. In1975 his art had
caught the attention of two cutting edge publishers of fantasy visionary
art at that time, the Big “O” Posters co. located in England who were at that time were just starting to publish the art of Roger Dean, Rodney Matthews, H.R. Giger and Bob Venosa and the
Pomegrante co. in California. His original paintings were published in
1976 by Big “O” as fantasy art posters. In 1980 he began
illustrating the RPG books for the TSR Hobbies Dungeons & Dragons co, and in 1984 he
painted fantasy book cover art for author H.P. Lovecraft and also
author Richard Adams. Over the years Michael’s art has been printed
as greeting cards, posters, prints, and jigsaw puzzles & distributed worldwide.
Michael is living currently in Austin, Texas and is now taking courses
in digital painting and also computer graphics.
