Marvel’s new Iron Man is African American woman

invinsible-iron-man-comic-cover-imagesMarvel Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis talked exclusively to Time Magazine about the creation of comics chracter Riri Williams, who will take over for Iron Man Tony Stark in Invincible Iron Man. In the interview Bendis reveals that the events at the end of the comic book series Civil War II will resulted in Tony Stark stepping out of the Iron Man suit for the last time and a new character, Riri Williams, taking over.

Williams is a science genius who enrolled in MIT at the age of 15. She comes to the attention of Stark when she builds her own Iron Man suit in her dorm room. Creator and Iron Man writer Brian Michael Bendis created Riri Williams with book artist Stefano Caselli.
