15th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival official poster revealed

The Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival committee has a rich history of not only selecting artistic, fantasy-laden gems from across the globe, but also for creating their advertising posters with the utmost care. This year if no different, as they’ve chosen conceptual artist Christian Lorenz Scheurer to do design 15th PiFan Film Festival poster.

Scheurer has been a conceptual artist and visual consultant for games including Diablo III and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, movies such as The Matrix, Dark City The Day After Tomorrow and The Fifth Element, as well as TV shows such as House M.D. The artist also won the 1989 Phillip Morris Award for Graphic Novels.

Scheurer created the artwork specially PiFan 15, which takes place from Thursday, July 14 to Sunday, July 24, 2011.

The Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) is considered the largest genre film festival in Asia. It is also the most popular film festival in Korea, celebrating its 15th edition, accompanied with a variety of programs.

Scheurer had this to say about concept of his work:

“Not so long ago, filmmaking used to be limited to the privileged few. Today almost every smart phone contains a camera and editing programs are readily available, even on the smallest laptop. This new reality makes filmmakers out of all of us on this new universal stage.” He also explained his intensions of design that “For the PiFan poster, I have tried to express this line of thinking in a happy, playful way. The poster portrays a fantastical caravan of filmmakers, their imaginary creations and their audience moving in unison towards a common gathering place to celebrate the free exchange of ideas and creativity. This place is the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival!”
