"More human than human" is our motto.
Context:
Replicant creator Dr. Eldon Tyrell (Joe Turkel) speaks to Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), about his company's motto in developing Replicants.
Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.
Context:
Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) says this to Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) at the end of Blade Runner, just before expiring.
Replicants are like any other machine - they are either a benefit or a hazard. If they are a benefit, it's not my problem.
Don't think you are. Know you are!
The digital pimp hard at work.
Context:
Switch (Belinda McClory) calls Mouse (Matt Doran) a "digital pimp" after Mouse offers a Sexy Woman computer program to newly awakened Neo (Keanu Reeves) at breakfast.
Good shit, huh? It's good for two things: degreasing engines and killing brain cells.
Context:
Cypher (Joe Pantoliano) says to Neo (Keanu Reeves) after Neo tries a drink made by Dozer (Anthony Ray Parker) and winces.
Our way... or the highway.
Context:
Switch (Belinda McClory) says to Neo (Keanu Reeves), while pointing a gun in his face, after she first meets him. She does not trust him yet.
Context:
Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Neo (Keanu Reeves) meet for the first time.
Context:
Neo (Keanu Reeves) speaks to Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) after getting hours of computer data downloaded directly into his cerebrum, all containing hand-to-hand combat simulations.
Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world? Where none suffered, where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program. Entire crops were lost. Some believed we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world. But I believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through suffering and misery. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to this: the peak of your civilization.
Context:
Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) says this to Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) after capturing the freedom fighter during an operation carried out by Smith, other Agents and a SWAT Team. Smith is trying to "break" Morpheus' mind in order to get codes to Zion's mainframe computer. Zion is the last human city on Earth in the movie.
You have to let it all go, Neo. Fear, doubt, and disbelief. Free your mind.
Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?
Neo, sooner or later you're going to realize just as I did that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.
Context:
Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) says to Neo (Keanu Reeves), who is confused about why he was led to believe he was not "The One," when indeed, he was "The One" all along.
I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin. I'm going to hang up this phone, and then I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world without you. A world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you.
Context:
The last lines of The Matrix. Neo (Keanu Reeves) is on a payphone. It is inferred that he is speaking to the mainframe system inside the matrix.
What is real? How do you define 'real'? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then 'real' is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain.
Context:
Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) says in response to Neo's (Keanu Reeves) disbelief that The Matrix could possibly exist.
To deny our own impulses is to deny the very thing that makes us human.
Context:
Mouse (Matt Doran) on why he designed the Sexy Woman computer program, after being called a "digital pimp" by Switch (Belinda McClory). Mouse had just offered the program's "services" to newly awakened Neo (Keanu Reeves) at breakfast.
Context:
Neo (Keanu Reeves) is brought to meet The Oracle (Gloria Foster) for the first time and encounters a young boy (Rowan Witt), who is seemingly making a spoon levitate. He asks the boy to show him how to do the same thing.
