Liquid Comics announced a partnership to release an original four-issue comic book series titled Dead Soldier from filmmakers John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, Max Payne) and Richie Smyth (upcoming Parkour), according to THR. Liquid Comics – which also has partnerships with filmmakers John Woo, Shekhar Kapur and Guy Ritchie – will create art for the series.

Liquid Comics uses graphic novels to develop properties for live-action films, animation and video games.

Dead Soldier centers on Colonel John Donner, a.k.a. John Doe, who – through a twist of events – is “transformed into a creature of unthinkable power,” during the last days of World War One.

The comic book series will be released in September by Liquid and publishing partner Dynamite Entertainment. Digital editions of the comic book series will also be available for iPhone, Sony PSP and online at Scribd.com.

According to the report, Liquid Comics currently has a number of film and television properties in development including the Warner Bros. film adaptation of the comic series Gamekeeper with Guy Ritchie, Virulents with John Moore, Voodoo Child with Nicolas Cage’s Saturn Films and Reliance, as well as Beyond with author and spiritual evangelist Deepak Chopra.
