Redwood Palms Pictures announces expansion highlighted by September opening of Battle in Seattle

Michael A. DiManno and R. Scott Reid announced today the formation of Redwood Palms Pictures, a full-service entertainment entity handling all aspects of production, marketing and distribution for its own independently developed motion pictures and those they acquire.

Since its inception in 2006, Redwood Palms has produced, co-produced and invested in a number of features including Numb starring Matthew Perry and Mary Steenburgen, When A Man Falls In A Forest starring Timothy Hutton, Cover starring Louis Gossett Jr. and Vivica A. Fox and “While She Was Out starring Kim Basinger. The company has just completed production of Wild Cherry starring Kristen Cavelleri, Rumer Willis and Rob Schneider set for release in 2009. Other films in development include Whiskey Beginnings, the true life story of stock car racing’s Junior Johnson, The Fulfillment and Jonah.

Battle In Seattle starring Andre Benjamin, Jennifer Carpenter, Woody Harrelson, Martin Henderson, Joshua Jackson, Ray Liotta, Connie Nielsen, Michelle Rodriguez, Channing Tatum, Charlize Theron and written and directed by Stuart Townsend is the next film on the Redwood Palms Pictures slate. The film is set for release in select theaters nationwide beginning September 19, 2008. Based on actual events in 1999, when hundreds of thousands of protestors took to the streets of Seattle in protest of the World Trade Organization, the film follows fictional characters who intentionally or accidentally find themselves on the streets of Seattle in those last days of the millennium.
