In a move that enhances its slate of theatrical motion pictures, Showtime Networks has entered into an exclusive seven-year film distribution arrangement with The Weinstein Company (TWC). The joint announcement was made today by Matthew C. Blank, Chairman and CEO of Showtime Networks and Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Co-Chairmen of TWC.

According to Variety, Phillip Noyce is currently in negotiations to direct the spy film Edwin A. Salt, which was written by Kurt Wimmer (Street Kings, The Thomas Crown Affair, The Recruit) as a possible star vehicle for Tom Cruise. Columbia Pictures has been handling development on the project with an eye towards Cruise.
