John Woo eyes sports film project

Action auteur John Woo may be shifting gears for his next project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director told attendees of a charity dinner recently in Beijing, that he hopes to make a sports movie with champion Olympic hurdler Liu Xiang and gold medalist diver Guo Jingjing.

Woo has a full plate right now, with three major projects in the works, including the sequel to his record-breaking epic film Red Cliff, the Chinese Revolution flick 1949, and an adaptation of the gunplay graphic novel Caliber, with Johnny Depp attached to star.
