Michael Jai White to screen his new action thriller Falcon Rising at UrbanWorld

michael-jai-white-falcon-rising-film-imagesMichael Jai White will be screening his newest action thriller, Falcon Rising, this Friday night during the Urbanworld Film Festival. White will discuss the film, along with the topic “Diversity in Action: the need for more Heroic Images that reflect Minority Interests, along with Taimak, star of the cult classic The Last Dragon. Other noted attendees expected at the screening and discussion include: Vincent Lyn, a martial artist & actor who has appeared in a number of Asian Kung Fu films; filmmaker & Museum of Moving Image Trustee Warrington Hudlin; author & Asian film fanatic Ric Meyers; and others, which should make for a very lively conversation.

The event starts at 10 PM this Friday night at the AMC Theaters on 34th Street and 8th Avenue, in New York City. The Urbanworld Film Festival begins tomorrow, September 17th and runs through September 21st.

Falcon Rising was directed by Ernie Barbarash (Cube Zero, They Wait, Hardwired, Assassination Games and 6 Bullets). The film was written by Y.T. Parazi and stars Michael Jai White as John ‘Falcon’ Chapman, Neal McDonough as Manny Ridley, Laila Ali as Cindy Chapman, Lateef Crowder as Carlo Bororo, Millie Ruperto as Katarina Da’ Silva, Hazuki Kato as Tomoe, Jimmy Navarro as Thiago Santo, Masashi Odate as Hirimoto, Jazmín Caratini, Daniel Cardona as Kuka, Robert Colon, Johnny Yang, Michael J. Here’s the synopsis of Falcon Rising:

Meet John “Falcon” Chapman (Michael Jai White), a former Navy SEAL suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. When Chapman’s sister (Laila Ali) is brutally attacked while on assignment in Brazil, Chapman flies to Rio de Janeiro to track down her assailants. Aided by his friend and fellow vet Manny Ridley (Neal McDonough), Chapman enters Rio’s seedy underbelly and discovers a world of drugs, sex trafficking, corrupt cops and organized crime syndicates battling for control. Can Chapman overcome his personal demons to find his sister’s attackers, or will he become another casualty?
