Check out the first trailer for Spike Lee’s remake of Oldboy

Film District has revealed a red-band trailer for Spike Lee’s remake of Oldboy, starring Josh Brolin and Samuel L. Jackson. Oldboy will hit theaters on Oct. 25th, is based on Chan-wook Park’s cult classic 2003 Korean thriller and co-stars Elisabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley (District 9).

This red band trailer for Spike’s version of Oldboy shows how dark and violent the film will be. From the looks of it, Oldboy will also stay faithful to the original. The story centers on an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who’s kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his punishment, only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.
