Indie martial arts thriller Dragon Eyes to preview during UFC

Pandorum’s Cung Le, who’s also an undefeated and accomplished kickboxer, will be making his UFC debut this Saturday, November 19th, during UFC 139. Le will be fighting against Wanderlei Silva in his own hometown of San Jose, California. Cung Le is a Sanshou expert who is considered a top-level mixed martial artist.

Just before Cung Le fights, Spike TV will be airing a UFC Unleashed marathon, during which there will be an exclusive, never-before-seen footage from Cung Le’s new action film Dragon Eyes, which is directed by John Hyams, the son of famed action director Peter Hyams. You can also watch the preview on HDNet, Versus, and online until UFC 139 starts.

Alongside Cung Le (Fighting, Tekken), Jean-Claude Van Damme (Double Impact, Universal Soldier), Peter Weller (Robocop) and Monica Acosta star in Dragon Eyes, which will be released in April of 2012.

Here’s Dragon Eyes’ official synopsis:

In a neighborhood under siege, Ryan Hong (Cung Le) is attracting attention, with his vintage car, his defiant attitude and his phenomenal fighting skills. Rival gang leaders Dash and Antuan think he’s for hire, but when he takes their money and steals their drugs, they know they’ve got a problem. When Ryan is arrested, he meets the real crime boss of St. Jude’s Square, Mr. V (Peter Weller), the Chief of Police, who sees management potential in this talented young fighter. But Ryan isn’t in it for the money or the power. He’s paying off a debt incurred as a younger, undisciplined and angry young man, a debt he can never discharge except by trying to “do good” wherever possible. With Mr. V as his real target, Ryan recruits Dash (Luis Da Silva Jr.) and Antuan (Edrick Browne) to fight with him, mobilizing the fearful and intimidated residents to bear witness at the showdown between Ryan and Mr. V’s corrupt police force.
