An action-packed thriller about a massive global earthquake that triggers a potentially catastrophic crack in the Earth’s crust, Megafault features an all-star cast including, Brittany Murphy (Sin City, Clueless, 8 Mile), Eriq LaSalle (ER, Without a Trace), Justin Hartley (Smallville), and Bruce Davison (X-Men, Knight Rider), directed by David Michael Latt. Megafault, the special director’s cut edition, contains never-before-seen footage in addition to exciting bonus features that go behind-the-scenes with a “making-of” featurette and commentary from cast and crew.
Megafault premiered on October 10, 2009 boasting the highest ratings for an original movie production for the SyFy Channel in two years, drawing 2.5 million viewers.
Synopsis
In West Virginia, Charley “Boomer” Baxter (LaSalle) is supervising the placement of mountaintop-removal explosives. As he detonates the TNT, a massive earthquake liquefies the terrain. Within hours, Dr. Amy Lane (Murphy), a government seismologist, arrives at the epicenter. Amy determines that the initial quake has exposed a deep seismic fault that runs across the center of the North American continent and threatens to tear the world in half. Now, Amy and Boomer must race ahead of the massive crack in the earth while devising a plan to stop the devastation and warn everyone in its path.
