In the compelling and poignant action film, Fighter, Aicha (Semra Turan), a high-school student in Copenhagen, dreams of becoming a mixed martial arts champion. But her parents, conservative immigrants from Turkey, oppose what they consider an unsuitable activity for a girl and instead insist that she study hard to get into medical school. Defying her parents, Aicha secretly joins a kung fu club, where she trains – and falls in love – with a sympathetic instructor (Cyron Melville). In a brutal sport ruled by men, and where the clash of cultures can be as hard as a kick to the face, Aicha must battle for more than just a medal.
