Anthony E. Zuiker, creator of the CSI franchise, and EQAL, creator of the web sensation lonelygirl15, have teamed up on a groundbreaking multimedia project that includes a crime novel by Zuiker, along with a multi-platform interactive experience by EQAL. The project is called Level 26, and Zuiker, along with Miles Beckett and Greg Goodfried of EQAL, will be on hand at Comic-Con 2009 to discuss what’s being called the first ‘digi-novel’ experience, on Saturday, July 25th, at 4:30PM in Room 5AB. They will also showcase a sneak peak of what to expect from the Level 26 experience, which is due in stores this September.

According to the website, level26.com, starting on July 23rd, new content will be added daily, along with profile pages, videos, behind the scenes footage and updates from Zuiker.

The trailer below definitely has a high level of production quality and features a number of familiar faces, including Bill Duke, Michael Ironside and Kevin Weisman (the computer genius from Alias).

Not only have numerous authors done it long before him, but young adult author Patrick Carman had a bestseller with ‘Skeleton Creek.’ Carman’s book came out almost a year ago and it appears that Zuiker’s book is a complete copy (albeit, not quite as well done).

I realize that I sound bitter and I have no stake in this whatsoever. Regardless, I was a bit annoyed in seeing the fawning praise that was heaped upon Zuiker, as if he is a maverick in the field, when he is anything but…
