Noted commercial director Fredrik Bond is attached to direct Rogue’s adaptation of cult horror comic Hack/Slash, based on a script by Justin Marks, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is expected to start shooting this winter.

Created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, Hack/Slash follows the exploits of Cassie Hack, daughter of the notorious Slasher, the “Lunch Lady,” who travels the world with her monstrous partner, Vlad, hunting and destroying Slashers wherever they may be, in whatever form they may take.

Variety reports that Marley & Me director David Frankel will helm the animated fantasy project Septimus Heap: Magyk, with Rob Lieber adapting for Warner Bros. ‘Marley’ and The Devil Wears Prada producer Karen Rosenfelt will steer the project.

Warner nabbed rights to Angie Sage’s seven-book Septimus series, two years ago. ‘Magyk’ revolves around two babies switched at birth, a boy who’s the seventh son of a seventh son and a girl destined to be a princess. Sage is executive producing the film project.

The first book, Septimus Heap: Magyk, was published in 2005, with three others published after. The fifth in the series, ‘Syren’, is due out in September of this year.
