Scene from Book of Blood

The Original Director’s cut of Clive Barker’s Book of Blood will be released by Lightning Home Entertainment on Blu-ray disc and DVD on September 29th, 2009. The edition will be distributed by Lionsgate Home Entertainment.

Based on the short stories The Book of Blood and On Jerusalem Street, Book of Blood, directed by John Harrison, is the latest on-screen adaptation of Barker’s work, and stars Sophie Ward, Jonas Armstrong and Paul Blair. The story follows a paranormal expert (Ward), who recruits “medium” Simon McNeal (Armstrong) to investigate a supposedly haunted house. Simon winds up as a conduit for souls on their way to the afterlife, who carve their stories on his body as a living book of blood.

The editions will also feature the following:

• Presentation will be 16×9-enhanced 1.78 widescreen with 5.1 Surround sound.
• A Behind the Scenes featurette running approximately 20 minutes.
• In English, with Spanish subtitles available.
