Win one of two copies of Tony and Ridley Scott’s cult horror TV series The Hunger 4-disc DVD set

The Hunger DVD

The Hunger DVD

From two legendary directors, Tony Scott (Man On Fire) and Ridley Scott (Blade Runner), comes The Hunger – a groundbreaking horror series available for the first time on DVD. On June 2nd, E1 Entertainment will release a 4 disc DVD set of The Hunger, and to celebrate the event, FilmFetish is getting two copies for readers to enjoy.

In order to be entered to win one of The Hunger DVD sets, here’s what you need to do:

  1. As always, you need to be a member of, or sign-up for our eNews, if you’re not already. CLICK HERE to do that. It’s totally free.
  2. Reply to this post, and tell me the name of your favorite Ridley Scott film AND your favorite Tony Scott film, and WHY.

I’ll be running this contest through the release date of June 2nd, 2009, then I’ll choose the two best answers, and those two will be the winners. Good luck!

Hosted by Terence Stamp (Smallville, Valkyrie) and inspired by leading horror writers, this macabre anthology series from Ridley & Tony Scott, features a phenomenal cast of familiar faces including Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace, The Golden Compass), Balthazar Getty (Brothers & Sisters, Alias), Golden Globe winners Sally Kirkland (Bruce Almighty, Anna) and Bruce Davison (X-Men, Longtime Companion), Academy Award nominee Karen Black (Five Easy Pieces, Easy Rider), and many more. The Hunger: The Complete First Season includes all 22 episodes, complete and uncut, for the first time in one deluxe 4-DVD set.

In The Hunger, demons, vampires, and fantasy run wild in a mesmerizing cross between The Twilight Zone and Tales from the Crypt. The half-hour episodes feature horrific stories, with themes of self-destructive desire and obsession. From cannibalism to uncontrollable lust, from vampires to evil spirits, the one common thread is a pervasive sense of eroticism. The Hunger originally aired for two seasons (1997-1999) on Showtime in the U.S., and took its name from the 1983 urban vampire film starring David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon. The Hunger: The Complete First Season also includes the original “making of” segment – an introduction to the second season with David Bowie, who replaced Stamp as host in 1999.

Ridley Scott’s Alien is his best in my opinion. The intensity of this film even as a small child was shear pleasure. Sci/fi and horror brought to the surface to which I still to this day thoroughly enjoy watching. Tony Scott’s Man On Fire is his best in my opinion, also. His casting of Denzel Washington in this film brings out the best in his talents of directing and working together with a great cast. The action and drama along with a great story made this his best.

I loved Tony Scott’s Deja Vu – purchased it as a DVD and had to watch it more than once, because of its complexity, which I liked! Also who can forget Ridley Scott’s Alien – saw it in the movie theater and the yell and shock that went through the audience when the alien jumped out of the body was invigorating!

  31. Neville Thompson says:

Rdiley Scott – I enjoyed his Thelma & Louise as an unusual movie. The story was different and for once there wasn’t a Hollywood happy ending but one that seems more fitting in the context of the whole story.

Tony Scott – I am a Denzel Washington fan and I liked Man On Fire. Again, the fact that the hero (anti-hero) dies at the conclusion of the movie seemed a good fir. It sort of reminded me of the ending to that great AWestern “Shane” where he rides off into the sunset while the little boy calls “Shane, Shane. Come back Shane !”

  32. John Rasmussen says:

    I still enjoy Blade-Runner.

  33. pag says:

  34. Bradley C. says:

My favorite Ridley Scott movie is “LEGEND”. The Fantasy Good versus Evil theme was awesome, and the music was great as well. My favorite Tony Scott movie would have to be “True Romance” because of the great cast, was a great movie and it had ties with Quentin Tarantino.

Alien & Top Gun…both for the action!

  38. Andrew Gordon says:

Ridleys Alien, that scared the snot out of me as a kid,.Tonys Man on Fire because Denzel kicked some butt in that film.

  39. bina edwards says:

Tony Scott Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) and Enemy of the State (the second one reminded both my husband and I of that new movie Eagle eye) I liked them both equally and the movies that I did recognize from IMDB were very few

Ridley Scott’s Legend (1985) , prob the only Tom Cruise movie that I still watch to this day (I have the dvd) and just love Tim Curry in his role

Props to Rid Scott as Alien is one of the best science fiction films ever made; brother True Romance Tony appears to have a more absurdist world view. If they’re in a dead heat right now I’m betting the upcoming A-Team film will be the tiebreaker…..

  47. CHARLES KASSING says:

    thanks

  48. David says:

Definetely Black Hawk Down is my favorite Ridley Scott film AND True Romance is my fav\’ from Tony Scott !!!

why? because those movies rock! extreme violence, sometimes real violence, great characters and dialogues, great sound effects and a true event on Black Hawk Down, and Patricia Arquettte on True ROMANCE!! WHaT ELSE!!!!

  49. Robert says:

Ridley Scott’s best film of all time is Alien. A first true horror film set in a sci/fi locale. Atmospheric, creepy and undeniably awesome.

Tony Scott’s best film, I gotta say is Top Gun. I know, I know….but I can’t escape my penchant for 80s films and Top Gun is one of the best.

Ridley Scott film: ALIEN is by far my favorite… I was taken back by the special effects and suspense in this film is why I liked it so much.

Tony Scott film: DEJA VU starring Denzel Washington… I loved the suspense and drama is why I liked that film.
