The Tudors DVD cover

On Tuesday, January 6th, CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount released the sexy and scandalous historical series The Tudors: The Complete Second Season on DVD. It’s a great show….if you like sex, betrayal, high drama, debauchery and violence. That said, of course I was an early adopter of the now Showtime hit, which I hope gets even hotter. This epic, lavish, and critically-acclaimed series has thrust star Jonathan Rhys Meyers into the spotlight as a young King Henry VIII.

Now for the good stuff. FilmFetish.com is getting two copies of the Complete Second Season of The Tutors on DVD, and I’m giving them both away to you guys! This is a great deal. DVD boxed sets go for like $50 bucks a pop. All that sex, action and drama, and you don’t even have to give up a kidney. Not even a blood donation (note to self; consider for next Saw giveaway requirement).

However, you will have to jump through a few hoops. After all, how else do we pick just two winners out of the three of you. If you all lived in the same city, we could do rock, paper, scissors. But you don’t, so we can’t.

Okay, so here’s the deal. There’s two steps to enter this great contest and have a chance to win:

  1. Sign-up for email alerts of film and contest news. CLICK HERE to sign-up.
  2. Reply to this post, and tell us the name of the film you think is the best historical epic ever made. This can be from any era (i.e. from The Spartacus to The Battle of Algiers). Impress me on this one. Show us who has the real Film Fetish!

Now, why did I add “BUT ENTER QUICK!” at the end of the story title, you ask? That’s because I’m only running this contest through next Tuesday, January 13TH! After that, you’ll have to purchase the Boxed Set from the FilmFetish.com Store RIGHT HERE.

Speaking of the 13TH! I am going to be posting a GREAT contest for you cult horror film buffs later. It probably won’t be published, as of tonight’s E-blast, so check back late tonight. It’ll be a fun one.

Here’s more information on The Tudors Second Season DVD release:

Revisit one of television’s most deliciously daring hit series in its critically-acclaimed sophomore season, when THE TUDORS: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON ascends onto its DVD throne as a four-disc set on January 6 from Showtime, CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Match Point, TV’s Elvis) returns to his “boisterously, enjoyably inappropriate” (USA Today) Golden Globe-nominated** role as Henry VIII, whose promiscuous ways change the course of history as he moves to divorce Queen Katherine (Maria Doyle Kennedy) and marry Anne Boleyn (Natalie Dormer), prompting Pope Paul III (eight-time Academy Award® nominee Peter O’Toole) to have him excommunicated. Anne’s failure to provide Henry with a male heir sets the wheels in motion for her eventual beheading and sends the King into the arms of Jane Seymour (Anita Briem).

In the tradition of Showtime’s brilliant original programming, THE TUDORS continues to garner record viewership for the network, and also picked up 2008 Golden Globe nominations for Best Television Series – Drama and Best Actor (Rhys Meyers), following its 2007 Emmy® wins for the series’ costuming and theme music. THE TUDORS returns to Showtime for a third season in the spring of 2009, with Grammy Award® winner Joss Stone joining the cast as Henry’s fourth wife, Anne of Cleves.

THE TUDORS: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON is packaged on four DVDs featuring all 10 episodes, plus two featurettes: Tower of London and Descendants of Henry, and the season two premieres of Showtime’s Golden Globe nominated series CALIFORNICATION and Emmy nominated series THIS AMERICAN LIFE®. Viewers will also have access via EBridge Technology to unlock and view the first two season three episodes from Showtime’s Golden Globe nominated series DEXTER and the second episode from CALIFORNICATION’s second season. THE TUDORS: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON will be available for the suggested retail price of $42.99.

THE TUDORS: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON is a four-disc set presented in wide screen with English 5.1 Surround, English 2.0 Surround and Spanish Mono. The DVD is not rated in the U.S. The total running time is 9 HrsThe DVD disc breakdown is as follows:

  1. Angela Eppley Says:

would love to see every show !

  2. Anne Says:

I didn’t appreciate this film when it came out, but I’ve since watched it a few times and fallen in love with it………Ghandi is my choice!

    Thanks

  3. Marc Says:

Well, if you consider the Bible as ancient history, then The Ten Commandments (with Charlton Heston) is my favorite historical epic. It depicts the grandeur of the ancient Egyptian palace life, the scale and scope of building the cities of the Pharoahs, the episode of the biblical Exodus, etc. etc. By the way I have the companion booklet from the 1956 film, and it demonstrates through pectures that the “costumes” and props in the film were actually taken from ancient statues, drawings and artwork, and historical artifacts to make the depictions as authentic as possible.

  4. Peter Says:

“Lawernce of Arabia” is great. Thanks.

  5. Debby Kulchar Says:

Hey what a great contest – thanks for running it – and yes I love the movie Spartacus

  6. Ken Robinson Says:

My personal favorite is Northwest Passage. Please accept my entry. Thank you.

  7. J A Reyes Says:

    I prefer \"A Man for All Seasons\".

  8. Kaetrin Says:

I should probably say Ben Hur but I’ve actually never seen it. So, I’ll nominate 300 for something different. I think it qualifies as epic and historical and Gerard Butler’s in it, so what more could you want in a movie?

  9. cm adamski Says:

Just getting time to relax and enjoy movies, gone with the wind

  10. ann Says:

    300 great film

  11. Kaycee Says:

I really enjoyed Gladiator but more recently, I would say 300.

  12. Wayne Yerby Says:

Many historical epics have been named above and I would recomend any of them especially Lawrence of Arabia, but I have to say my favorite is The Longest Day. This movie is incredible and the cast is absolutely the best. So any of the finest actors of the day make this movie. John Wayne, Eddie Albert, Sean Connery, Red Buttons, Richard Burton. I could keep on with the cast, but the movie itself is great. D-Day…a day that many Americans (and Germans) lost their lives

  13. Debby Kulchar Says:

is this contest over and did I win?
