Dark Knight chosen among top films of 2008 by Director’s Guild

The Dark Knight continues to blaze a trail into history as the Directors Guild chose it as on of the top feature film of 2008. Not “comic” films…films. Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight proves once and for all, that good films aren’t about genres, they’re about solid filmmaking and good stories.

Other nods went the incredible Danny Boyle film Slumdog Millionaire, Gus Van Sant’s Milk, David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and the Ron Howard film Frost/Nixon. DGA Vice-President Taylor Hackford, made the announcement at the guild’s headquarters this morning. He was filling in for president Michael Apted, who is currently filming The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

This year’s winner will be chosen on January 31st, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel.

The Producers Guild of America nominated the same five movies in its feature category on Monday.
